We have spoken before of the "problem of grace" being a more salient existential and even logical objection to Christian doctrine than the "problem of evil"; why do you think that the overestimation of the effects of the fall have not lead more theologians, philosophers, and pastors in that direction?

Say more - I think a lot of Reformed theologians do say things like, "Isn't it amazing how gracious God has been to us totally depraved worms?" But the illusion is that denigration of our created nature is theologically correct, placing even further from meriting God's favor, making God's grace more amazing. The problem is that having one's nature destroyed would not place one just a bit further from the grace of God but snuffs one out of existence. We need a nature in order for God to save us and it... but I'm not sure I've answered the question.
