I often use the word "indulge" as a dividing line. Is an unwanted thought fleeting, or do you indulge in it, dwell on it, make it a lengthy fantasy of sex or violence towards others? Premeditation (intent) is required for the indulged or dwelled-upon thought, but not for the fleeting thought.

Clark, I agree! Sometimes it's just "giving in," but even that involves our complicity. But the thoughts that come to us are like the hand of cards God deals us each day. It's what we do with them that counts.
